Second Subaru TCR test day for Kelly Racing

Braeside, Victoria (16 May, 2019) Kelly Racing carried out its second TCR test day at Winton Raceway yesterday. All four of the team’s cars and drivers for TCR Australia were in attendance, undertaking their final practice laps ahead of the season opener in Sydney this weekend.

This was the team’s first opportunity to put to use some of the learnings from the first official TCR Australia test day last week as well as provide critical laps to Chelsea Angelo who’s Holden Astra was in transit from Germany during last week’s test.

For the team’s other drivers, Molly Taylor, André Heimgartner and Alex Rullo, it was a good opportunity to continue learning how to get the best out of these front-wheel drive touring cars.

It was also the team’s first opportunity to showcase its new liveries across the four TCR cars including major partnership involving Castrol, Dare Iced Coffee and Kangan Institute.

Thanks to AHG and McGrath Holden, Kelly Racing has also been able to bring Holden badging to its two Astra TCR cars.

With testing complete it is now time to shift our focus to Sydney Motorsport Park where the first race of the season kicks off this Friday 17 May.
Kelly Racing Team quotes

Scott Sinclair, Kelly Racing General Manager – Racing

“We had a test day for all four TCR cars yesterday and it was actually the shakedown for Chelsea’s Astra which arrived late. We had a really good day, it was great to get the miles under our belt before we head to Sydney.”

“We’re still learning, there’s no doubt there’s lots to learn about these cars as they’re completely different from the Supercars so we’re learning plenty, there were still a couple of minor niggles as you would expect from a new car but generally the day ran well.”

“Now the truck is on its way to Sydney and we’re looking forward to unloading the cars tomorrow and getting into it.”

André Heimgarter, #777 Subaru WRX TCR

“It’s been a good day, just getting used to the car and trying some different setup changes. We’re getting the hang of tuning all of the cars so I’m really looking forward to heading to Sydney for the weekend for our first race.”

“This is pretty much the third race car I’ve driven in a week and they all require different driving styles but it’s not too bad, every time you hop in a different one it’s a different mindset but it’s definitely interesting and cool to get to drive so many different cars. And spending as much time as possible behind the wheel is good for me and my development so it’s positive.”

Molly Taylor, #6 Subaru WRX TCR

“I’m really glad to have been given the opportunity to continue developing my circuit racing skills today here at Winton Raceway for my second test day with the team. There was a lot to take onboard after the first one, and it’s been great to continue the learning curve today.”
