The Zagreb Fair is becoming the epicentre of the motorsport world!
Final preparations for the WRC Croatia Rally are in full swing. A real village is being built by the crews at the Zagreb Fair.
Zagreb, 18 April 2022 – The Easter weekend concurs with the very peak of preparations for the WRC Croatia Rally 2022, the biggest sporting event and one of the most watched sporting shows in the world, that will be held from 21 to 24 April 2022.
There are around 250 trucks involved in equipping the competitors and the Service Park. More than 300 people will lay and install more than 6 km of cables and put up more than 7 km of fences, they will also lay more than 800 m of water installations while the expected total electricity consumption will be about 1.2 MWh – all this and much more is necessary to turn the Zagreb Fair into the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 Service Park Fan Zone, a place that is becoming the epicentre of the motorsport world next week.
The rally organizers are aware of their great impact not only on economic activity and consumption, but also on the environment, so this year they are going to find ways to maximize their efficiency while reducing environmental impact, by positively impacting on the economy, in collaboration with the scientists from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and the Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute.
As the organizers of the WRC Croatia Rally have already announced, visitors can expect rich content both along the tracks and in the Fan zones. The largest Fan zone, i.e. the Zagreb Fair Service Park Fan zone will be the first one to open, as early as Tuesday 19 April, and will be open during six days, up to 24 April, where the closing party is to be expected in the evening. There, visitors will be able to see the village built by the teams of the best rally drivers, the cars and the service areas of top competitors, watch their final preparations and maintenance of cars during the competition. As part of the accompanying programme, motorsport fans will be able to buy Croatia Rally’s, top teams’ and WRC’s merch, indulge the catering offer and performances of DJs and famous music artists, try their skills on game consoles and simulators. The Croatia Rally 2022 drivers will be signing autographs on Tuesday, 19 April and on Wednesday, 20 April, while the “Meet the Crews” event, during which the drivers will make statements for the gathered audience, is scheduled for Thursday, 21 April, Friday 22 April and Saturday 23 April. Due to the limited number of parking spaces on the site, the possible crowds that could affect the smooth running of the race as well as the efforts of the organizers to minimize their impact on the environment, please carpool with friends, relatives and acquaintances whenever possible and arrive at the location at least 3 hours before the start of the competition. During the last 30 minutes before the start of the special stage, access to special stages will not be possible (even on foot) from any directions, neither from the start nor the finish line.

The WRC Croatia Rally will be taking place from 21 to 24 April at 20 attractive special stages through five Croatian counties – Zagreb County, Karlovac County, Krapina-Zagorje County, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and Varaždin County; while the ceremonial start, the finish line and the service park will be located in Zagreb. This year, a record number of spectators is expected at one of the largest sporting events in the country ever. Indeed, according to the predictions of the Organizer the event will be followed by more than 350,000 people in special fan areas and along the tracks, arriving from Europe and many countries worldwide. The visitors will also be able to lay eyes on the ground-breaking new generation of hybrid Rally1 vehicles, which premiered in Monte Carlo at the beginning of the season. Thanks to the excellent organization of the sports and collateral contents of the race, including also the environmental protection, Croatia has been mentioned many times as refreshing and a real surprise in the WRC calendar. Thus, following the excellent assessment for the overall impression, the organizer was given the opportunity to sign a three-year contract to organize this octane show. Along with numerous partners, local government units, tourist boards and other institutions, the importance and success of this event has been recognized also by the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Zagreb, that decided to provide co-funds for the organization of the competition in 2022 and in the subsequent years.

WRC (World Rally Championship) is the most popular motorsport competition in the world besides F1, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. It is regularly broadcast by over 250 TV stations and watched by about 836 million people worldwide.
After many years of vying with much richer countries, Croatia had the opportunity to organize an event of the World Championship for the first time in 2021, which has been labeled WRC Croatia Rally and took place in Zagreb and the surrounding area in April of the same year.
