Hybrid WRCs will be the Stars of the RallyRACC
• This 2022, the RallyRACC organization reinforces its environmental commitment and will have more technological interest, with a high presence of vehicles that use synthetic fuels.
• This year, the competition will have 111 crews, which will take the start on Thursday 20 from the podium in Salou.
• The World (WRC) and European (ERC) championships will meet on the Costa Daurada in a RallyRACC that closes the European calendar.
13 October 2022.– The FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) will come to Spain with the 57th RallyRACC Catalunya-COSTA DAURADA, Rally de España 2022, the closing event of the European calendar of the top road racing speciality.
In this edition, the triangle of Salou, PortAventura World and Costa Daurada will once again host, for the seventeenth consecutive time, the Spanish event, which will count towards the World and European Championships with the champions already proclaimed in the previous event. Both the Finns Kalle Rovanperä-Jonne Halttunen in the WRC, and the Spaniards Efrén Llanera-Sara Fernández in the ERC, will make their debut at the RallyRACC as the new 2022 champions of their respective championships.
Salou, PortAventura World and Costa Daurada
The key points of the RallyRACC are the same as those that have distinguished it in recent years. The start and finish podium, where the prize-giving ceremony will also be held, will be located on the Passeig Jaume I in Salou. The Service Park for all the teams will once again be located in the PortAventura World car park, while the Race Headquarters and the Media Centre will continue to be located in the comfort of the Business Centre at the Convention Centre in the same theme park.
In addition to the Salou City Council and PortAventura World, the competition is supported by the Tarragona Provincial Council, the Costa Daurada Tourism Board, the Salou Tourism Board and the General Secretariat for Sport of the Catalan Government.
An Itinerary with 19 Special Stages
The 57th RallyRACC, whose route was presented four months ago, has a total itinerary of 1,330.91 km of which 293.77 km are of speed distributed in 19 timed stages on asphalt. This itinerary will be contested over three days of competition, from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 October. Beforehand, on Thursday 20, the Shakedown or test stage will take place at Coll de la Teixeta (4.21 km), as well as the official starting ceremony in Salou.
