SANREMO (IM), 23 March – A tradition that could not have been respected in the years of the pandemic. With the easing of the crisis this year, the 69th edition of the Rallye Sanremo is back to celebrate in the shadow of the Casino, on Corso Imperatrice, on the platform that has seen the most famous rally drivers in history lift the cups to the sky. Starting with the first two editions of the competition, won in 1928 and 1929 by the Romanian Ernest Urdareanu, passing through the local Amilcare Ballestrieri, co-driven by Arnaldo Bernacchini, who triumphed with their Fulvia HF in 1972, exactly fifty years ago. The last crew to celebrate the victory in Corso Imperatrice was the one of the Irish Craig Breen-Paul Nagle in 2019 with their Škoda Fabia R5, a crew that repeated their success last year in a Hyundai i20.
Even the Sanremo Leggenda, which follows the Sanremo National race on the inland special stages, will return to toast in front of the Casino, continuing the streak that was interrupted in 2019 on the occasion of the victory of Michele Bottino-Laura Guastavino, Ford Fiesta R5.
The 69th Rallye Sanremo, valid for the Italian Overall Rally-Sparco Championship, will start on Friday 8 April at 2.00 pm from the square in front of the Old Railway Station and will end on Corso Imperatrice with the podium celebrations on Saturday 9 April at 5.30 pm. The 14th edition of the Rallye Sanremo Leggenda will start the engines at the Old Railway Station on Saturday 9 April, at 11.15 am, to toast on the podium in front of the Casino at 07.40 pm on Saturday 9 April. Similar route for the 4th Eco Rallye Sanremo, reserved exclusively to ecological electric cars, which will start from the Old Railway Station on Friday 8 April at 03.20 pm and will finish at 04.25 pm on Saturday 9 April, again in the shadow of the Casino.
