Floor to the drivers at the 7th Rally di Roma Capitale

The event organized by Motorsport Italia is among the most appreciated on the International scene due to its diversified, spectacular and challenging tests, the high involvement of fans and the important media coverage. “Amazing interest around it” – “Exciting race” are some of the quotes

Rome, July 17th, 2019. Two days are left before the 7th Rally di Roma Capitale and the atmosphere of the eve is vibrant in the waiting of the start to the event organized by Motorsport Italia as the 5th round of the European Rally Championship and Italian Rally Championship. This is going to be the stage for the battle among the best drivers in Europe and those of the Italian Championship, with a lot of young drivers to contest ERC Junior and CIR Junior and the Peugeot Top Trophy.

The comments at the eve of the Italian event acknowledge the uniqueness of this rally and its special place not only on the sporting scene:

Łukasz Habaj (Pol – Skoda Fabia R5) leader ERC: “Our lead in the championship is bigger on Chris Ingram than on Alexey Lukyanuk, whose speed is unquestionable. If he does not have issues, we will struggle to keep his pace. We ran the Rallye Sanremo in April and we will run some tests before the Rally di Roma Capitale”-.

Alexey Lukyanuk (Rus – Citroen C3 R5) 2° ERC: “We are smiling because the next round is the Rally di Roma Capitale. The result in Poland has been good, the rhythm was good and we are happy for the win. Points are good but the thrill comes when you post good times, push to the limit but are in control and have fun. We have a huge work to do to find the best possible setup on the Italian tarmac of the Rally di Roma Capitale. Luckily we have the best team and engineer on board, therefore we should be able to make it”-.

Emma Falcon (Esp – Citroen C3 R5): “This is one of the rallies that I most like and enjoy, and my team and I have participated in it. Having the start in the centre of Rome is amazing, the entire route is fun it has some similarities with Rally Islas Canarias. This will be my first participation in Rome with the R5 car and this year has been about getting acquainted with the car. Hopefully next year we participate in more events. We are already preparing for next season and the rallies we want to participate in.”

Andrea Nucita (Fiat Abarth 124): “The Rally di Roma Capitale gives me a big push. It is an event having an amazing interest around it and I am proud that Italy stages such an important rally. Organization has really been effective. Thanks to the support of the Italian Federation I have the chance to run races in the World and European Championship, therefore I can say that the race organized by Motorsport Italia is a shining star on the International scene. We get to this rally focused and highly motivated. This is an important chance to get some ground back in the RC2 classification. Even though rivals are strong and do not give anything away, we can take advantage of the absence of the provisional leaders. We need to make the most of this rally. Even if we are leading the Abarth single-make by 11 points, this is not enough, we need to raise the pace”.

Giandomenico Basso (Skoda Fabia R5) Leader CIR: “This is an exciting race that we won in the past. We are in Rome with Metior, the team we competed for last year. In 2018 we had a good outing here taking overall P2. This time around we will be using Michelin tyres. Metior is working well, we hope to be competitive since the beginning. I would like to thank Loran that is demonstrating with facts that they believe in us. For Loran and us, reaching the results obtained so far is already a great satisfaction. We are doing our best”.
