November 16th, 2015
Teemu Suninen – sponsored by Toni Gardemeister & Timo Jouhki – at the wheel of a competitive and older Fabia Super 2000 from TGS Team based in Estonia had a brilliant performance during this weekend.
This young Scandinavian driver, absolute revelation among his class during this season, got a tremendous triumph in the show-class that World Rally has nowadays, for the great technical rules parity of R5 and S2000 cars.
Suninen and his experienced co-driver Mikko Märkkula were outstanding leaders of Wales Rally, driving the Czech car progressively better throughout the event, with a fast and right pace that gave the confidence to get the greatest prize at Deeside.
From the beginning the Finnish couple knew they would be in front, by winning the shakedown on Thursday and fighting against the provisional leader in RC2 Eric Camilli, who quit his chances because problems with his Ford.
Suninen’s talent and skills made him far exceed the expectations before this competition in a muddy, silty, sludgy, and soaked wet British soil, grabbing his first success in World Championship. A very special feeling for all the members of Gardemeister’s structure showing a big smile.
Now, after this fantastic result, the Scandinavian team waits the new ŠKODA Fabia R5 arriving during the first days of December. Surely afterwards, Toni and company will do the relevant tests to planning the 2016 sports activities.
