The event organized by Motorsport Italia is getting to its heart. The Qualifying Stage and the Shakedown will take place tomorrow as the opening from Castel Sant’Angelo in Rome.

Rome, July 18th, 2019. Engines are switching on at the 8th Rally di Roma Capitale. Preliminary operations being concluded today, tomorrow, Friday, July 19th will open with the Qualifying Stage in Fumone and the shakedown that will be run also by the contenders of the Italian Rally Championship on a 4.02 km road strip in Ciociaria. The Selection of Start Position and pre-rally Press Conference at the Sala della Protomoteca – Piazza del Campidoglio 1 Roma – entrance from the Vignola staircase – will be at 16.

The opening show of the Rally di Roma Capitale will follow at 19 with the start from Castel Sant’Angelo, the prestigious and exclusive setting in the Rome city centre that will house the start to the 5th Round of the European Rally Championship and Italian Rally Championship.

The big names of the European and Italian Championships will then head to Fiuggi for the night regrouping.

The first rally day will be Saturday, July 20th. It will include six spectacular tests in the Province of Frosinone with a liason of 481,13 km featuring two loops of the three stages: “Pico-Greci” (19,46 km) [SS1 at 9:33 | SS4 at 15:52] – this stage was present in the previous editions that for the first time will be faced in the opposite direction. It is quite a challenging test on a narrow road. “Roccasecca-Colle San Magno” (13,93 km) [SS2 at 10:28 | SS5 at 16:47] – this stage is a driven one and its fast sections climb up to 900 meters on the sea level. “Santopadre-Arpino” (21,17 km) [SS3 at 11:18 | SS6 at 17:37] – this is the longest stage of the rally, mostly run last year with an additional 4km section. This is quite a driven test with several corners one after the other. Sunday, July 21st will open with a more consistent program featuring two loops on four different tests in the Frosinone territory, while the double “Arena ACI Roma” tests will close the event in the evening.

The Poles Lukasz Habaj and Daniel Dymurski get to Italy as European Championship leaders on their Skoda Fabia R5. They come from the victory at the Azores and two podiums in Spain and Poland on June 30th. Behind them, the crew of the Citroen C3 R5 made by the Russians Alexey Lukyanuk and Alexey Arnautov that won the Rally Poland. The third place of the European classification is currently held by the young Britons Chris Ingram and Ross Whittock, also on Skoda Fabia. They lead the ERC 1 Junior classification too. The Italian Andrea Nucita has been shining so far in the European series on the Fiat Abarth 124, who is fighting for the ERC2 and the Abarth single-make title.
