DMACK Makes History As WRC Leaders.

DMACK joined a small group of elite tyre manufacturers who have led an FIA World Rally Championship event when Ott Tänak and co-driver Raigo Mõlder won five stages to hold an overnight lead at PZM Rally Poland.
The Estonians powered their Ford Fiesta RS WRC to the top of the leaderboard after the second stage at round seven of the world championship this morning.
After briefly slipping back to third, they blitzed the field after lunchtime service with a trio of fastest stage times, beating the top drivers and WRC manufacturers. They went a huge 3.5 seconds faster than anyone else on the 21.14km stage eight to leap back into P1.
Equipped with the latest generation DMACK gravel tyres, designed and built in the UK, Tänak mastered the ultra high-speed gravel roads through the Masurian lake district in the north of the country. He holds an overnight lead of 4.2 seconds.
The rally continues tomorrow with seven stages and 124km of action, including a remote tyre fitting zone at Goldap, before finishing on Sunday afternoon.
Dick Cormack, DMACK managing director, said: “It’s been a momentous day in DMACK’s short history and today’s remarkable performance really puts us on the map as a major player in motorsport. When we introduced these new tyres, we targeted Poland and Finland as events where we knew there was a strong chance of setting top times. The development over the last 12 months has been intense but now we are beginning to reap the rewards.”
Ott Tänak said: “I really enjoyed today, we had a great time and it’s so much fun when we are pushing hard and can compete with the guys at the top. Everything has worked well today and we are both so happy to be consistently scoring fastest times and leading the rally overnight.”
